Hugs and Kisses Theme

Hugs and Kisses

TALK: Talk with the kids about love. What does it mean to love someone? Do you have people in your life that you love? What do you do to show them you love them? Kiss and Hug them. Kisses and Hugs are wonderful anytime but they are especially important in February when we think of Valentine's Day coming soon!

RHYMES/ SING:

Action Rhyme: “Little Heart”
I have a little heart, (place hand over heart)
And it goes thump, thump, thump (pat chest three times)
It keeps right on beating,
When I jump, jump, jump (jump three times)
I get a special feeling, when I look at you. (point to child)
It makes me want to give you a hug or two. (hug yourself)

Action Rhyme: “I Can Hug”
I can hug, hug, hug
I can hop, hop, hop
I can kiss, kiss, kiss
I can stop, stop, stop
I can nod my head for yes,
And I can shake my head no,
And I can sit down very slow.

CRAFT/ PLAY:

CRAFT: Mail-A-Hug!
This was such a cute idea (inspired by Pinterest) that everyone loved! It was a little more involved since parents had to help their children trace and cut out hands but definitely worth it! Stickers and crayons were used to decorate the hands. Once hands were ready I measured each child’s arm span with yarn to create the “hug” length.

Everyone got a card with this rhyme on it to mail with their hug…
Wrap these hands around you,
Whenever I’m away.
So you can have a hug from me,
anytime of the day!
